The Legionnaire's Signature Drink

Hello friends! Because I hate recipe posts where you have to scroll through miles of content before you get to the recipe, the recipe is right here, but keep reading if you want to learn more about why I made some of the choices for this signature drink.

1 oz whiskey bourbon

2 oz peach schnapps

1 oz apple bourbon

3 oz mango peach or mango tangerine juice

splash of grenadine (measure by your heart)

Edible glitter (optional)

Maraschino cherry (for garnish)

1. Mix whiskey, schnapps, bourbon and juice in a shaker and shake over ice. Optionally you can add some edible glitter for the aesthetic.

2. Strain and pour into glass of your choice.

3. Add splash of grenadine into your glass and garnish with maraschino cherry

4. Enjoy!

If you want to make a non-alcoholic version add some apple juice to the mango and then continue on from step 3.

Thank you to everyone who stuck around to read about why I've chosen these ingredients. I had a lot of fun experimenting with flavor combination while working on this drink and trying to find something that matched the overall vibes of the novel in the form of an alcoholic beverage.

In the Legionnaire, food is mostly fuel for the soldiers, especially since so much of their lives revolves around staying fit and training to run missions. But Saiden always manages to take a moment to appreciate her food, especially when it comes to fruit, so I knew I wanted to start with a fruity base. I love this mango juice separately, so that made sense to me to use as a mixer.

Layer in the peach schnapps and crisp apple bourbon (I use E&J) to really carry that fruit flavor through the drink. And whiskey because the only alcohol I ever mention in The Legionnaire is a whiskey imported from the kingdom of Taezhali, south of Kaizia, that General Nakti is particularly fond of.

And that's the drink. If you make one of your own let me know what you think, and tag me in any photos of your recreations. And please, make sure to drink responsibly.
